Common Thread

Common Thread is the debut pattern book from Rui Yamamuro. The title plays on the phrase "a common thread," which refers to a shared characteristic or underlying theme. In knitting, literal thread brings our craft to life. This thread also symbolizes the author’s desire to connect people and handcrafts of the past with those of the future, all through a single thread.

This collection features 12 versatile patterns for year-round wear, including sweaters, cardigans, and skirts. Drawing on her background in fashion construction, Rui combines a refined structural beauty with comfortable designs inspired by daily life in Paris. Born in Hokkaido, Japan, Rui studied pattern making in Tokyo before later moving to Paris to study embroidery at École Lesage. Her journey in knitwear began with a desire to create garments she truly wanted to wear. Learn more about Rui on her website.
